Hunterrr (2015)

Storyline

Mandar Ponkshe is an ordinary guy, meaning there is hardly anything extraordinary about him. He is maybe 5'8" or 5'9". He dresses very un-dandily if there was such a term, wears a goatee to hide what could be considered a weak chin. Mandar does not attract attention because he wants to be seen as ordinary. But behind that facade is a story - of an interesting past life that has been led. His single-minded pursuit of girls, tall and short, stout or with a pout. He's funny unconventionally without meaning to be witty. His friends have lost all hope of him settling down, as they know that he doesn't plan to. And then suddenly he meets someone whom he starts liking... and falls in love with. What will happen now? Will she know about his past? Will he able to hide his Hunterrrr reputation? The story of a guy, who doesn't want to grow up!

Saw #GabbarIsBack in single screen. I swear it was a thunderous experience. People were clapping and whistling and all. Nothing new in the content, it has action romance emotions comedy message and great dialogue's. If you loved Singham, Rowdy Rathore, Dabangg then you Just Cannot miss #Gabbar its a Typical Masala muvie with great message. There is one Hospital scene before the intermission which is EPIC. THAT scene is beyond exceptional. Akshay Kumar as usual is Brilliant. Classic performance by him. Sunil Grover(Guthi) is impressive. Shruti Hasan looks hot. Kareena Kapoor looks beautiful in her cameo (Teri Meri Kahani) Chitrangda is quite seductive in Kundi mat. Overall a good entertainer and this can be the first movie of 2015 to cross 100 crore.  Mortdecai Reviews

I love eccentric characters whether they are the silent Mr. Bean, the bumbling Inspector Clouseau or even the wealthy treasure hunter Scrooge McDuck. Like any good story about an outcast, they are deemed stranger then the rest of the world and tend to use that to their advantage to find a gold mine or crack the latest case in France. I too consider myself an eccentric with my oddball quirks and strange interests including amusement park history and animation. You could say that everyone has a little eccentric inside of them, but only few would dare express it as their full personality.

Cinema is a large home to this breed of person. Often you will find these people associated with comedies as they make it aware that the characters behavior is more out of place, even if the world they live in is exaggerated or romanticized. Though I would love to see a drama about an oddball, these try to explain some mental illness like that their sick or something. This is something that I wish more movies would try to cut away from and simply explain that this is your hero and he's this way just because. We get another quirky eccentric with Mortdecai.

Lord Charlie Mortdecai (played by Johnny Depp) is a pompous, wealthy art dealer who tries to portray himself as classy, comes off of a goof. He lives in a large home along with his man servant/muscle Jock Strapp (played by Paul Bettany) and his wife who he always declares as the love of his life Johanna (played by Gwyneth Paltrow). A Goya painting is stolen from a woman that was working on restoring the artwork. So this puts inspector Alistair Martland (played by Ewan McGregor) on the case. He has a thing for Johanna, so he contacts Mortdecai for his services, knowing that this would keep the eccentric busy while he get's cozy with the wife.

Amazing film! It takes you to every emotion possible and the message is great! Congratulations for the cast and director. This is a great time to share this topic and have more people truly believe in LOVE. I can't say much as I wish everyone can see this film but the way the story is told truly helps us understand the characters, their emotional roller-coaster and how love grows with them. You want to help them reach their goal and become really involve on the story. The wardrobe is playful and a different way to present a new film with such of deep storyline. It helps balance what is happening in the movie. Make up nailed it and you can see as the story gets to the end how the changes were made perfectly. I am sure if was a very challenging for the hair and make-up team to achieve pick up shoots and shooting timeline with extreme changes or styles. The cast was perfect for this story. I am very impressed to this this quality on a new production company.

We saw Bereave at the 2015 Sarasota Film Festival & were impressed with the quality of the film. There was an intensity of purpose that came though in this film that is supported by the spirit of an independent project. The directors, the Giovanis brothers, together with acting leads, Malcolm McDowell and Jane Seymour, spent years bringing this project to fruition and the effort has paid off with a moving film they can and should be proud of.

Well and evenly cast, this is the sort of humanistic story that one hopes we will see more often, as the industry seems more & more inclined to lean on FX & CGI & less on story lines & superior acting, which this film has in spades. Jane Seymour & director Giovanis appeared at the festival for a post film discussion, which highlighted the difficulties of producing a small, quality project such as this. Her acting performance was strong & nuanced, a credit to her career, plus kudos to her for executive producing. Malcolm McDowell, also an executive producer, was astonishing in his role as Garvey, Seymour's husband. Fleshed out as an intense, bewildered man at the end of a privileged life, this is the sort of performance that deserves award recognition.

The remainder of the cast were believable, & professional, sometimes quixotic, such as Keith Carradine as Garvey's brother & Rachel Eggleston as Cleo, gives one of the best child acting performances to be seen in recent films.

It is a reincarnation story about the love between Leela and her lover, which is left incomplete because one of them has been murdered. The story comes to circle after 300 long years; when Leela has taken birth as Meera and her lover's character is also reborn.

Ek Paheli Leela Reviews

When a movie has the name Sunny Leone in the cast list, expectations of the audiences doesn't go far. Ek Paheli Leela made some space in the promos by its entertaining and really good songs, but still on the expectations it didn't had much fate. But Bobby Khan as a director did a really good job and made Leela a Surprisingly Good Movie. Really Entertaining, I must say. Its a good pace movie with its own thrills, which should be credited to the writers. They have written a great, interesting, and a twisting climax. Seeing two faces after a long time was great, Mohit Alahwat and Jas Arora after such a long gap. And thumbs-up to Jas Arora for his performance as Bikram Singh, when you have considered to be as chocolate boy in raster years. Sunny has again done a hard working job to improve herself as an actress, and praise her for that. The most beautiful highlight of the movie is the Cinematography and Choreography of the songs. Hats-off to the person who is behind the camera. Specially frames in the desert are really great. The colors and mood has been captured beautifully through out the movie.

What has happened to Bollywood. It used to be better than this. Every day I wake up with this hope that one day Bollywood would become what it used to be but I am not sure of it anymore, and I don't think that would happen in the near future. We hardly get 4-5 good movies in a year.

I am a fan of Zoya Akhtar. I loved ZNMD and was eagerly waiting for this film as she is one of the few directors in India who can make good films. First Anurag Kashyap and now Zoya Akhtar has disappointed me.

This is a crappy film. It does not know what to do with itself. There are way to many unnecessary characters and subplots. The music is awful and the lyrics are out of the world. The songs do not fit the storyline well. I won't waste my time by writing a detailed review. Stay away from this film.

 In the Blood Reviews

I'm a retired man that loves females in movies like the next guy. This movie stands out in my mind because the lead female isn't the typical bimbo 'eye candy' which are in many movies. She fights for justice no matter the odds. If you are like me and you are always rolling your eyes because the chick is completely useless and crying or pleading for mercy... when thugs try to move in on her and treat her like a cheap piece... she is their worst nightmare. It is hard to explain all the things she does because that would give the movie away, but suffice it to say if you wrong her, you will pay! If you want to see a movie where the female fights for justice... In the Blood... fills the bill.

Everything seems so bland. The constant jibe of who gets the last word in seems forced, predictable and acts like an edit for the next scene. Coming out of the screening, there is not one scene or moment that i feel that i can walk away with in awe.

The romantic angle that was introduced lack chemistry. From out of nowhere, the characters involved suddenly had an interest for one another? Without any build up of it in past movies nor in this one, it just felt empty.

Camera angles that were purposefully shot for the intentional thrill of 3D is like any other angles used in any other 3D-movie-going-experience. I wonder when will this gimmick/trend go away.

All in all...it is still watchable. It just left a disdain taste of yet another repetition of the Marvel formula. Age of Ultron neither has the quality and magic of both Guardians of the Galaxy or Captain America Winter Soldier had.

User Reviews

Some reviews have characterized this movie as your typical, run-of-the-mill, action movie, nothing you haven't seen before....nothing could be farther from the truth!!

This movie is based off the television series called "The Equalizer". It is about an ex-CIA operative who uses his special skills to help ordinary people who have no other recourse. This movie version of The Equalizer is more reminiscent of Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, and it is this that sets this movie above your typical action flick. In fact, in Mr. Damon's own words, The Equalizer "...reminded me of the Bourne Identity, in that both are sophisticated adult, thriller franchises where the protagonists are capable of high-action exploits, but aren't running around in spandex." Directed by the great Antoine Fuqua, the man who brought us Training Day, The Equalizer is a gritty and violent, suspenseful and superb action film. This movie is very character-driven, and Denzel Washington, who plays protagonist Robert McCall, gives another stellar performance. His character lives alone, keeps to himself, and seems to suffer from some form of OCD. Most importantly, McCall is not McClane! He is not a wise-cracking cop in the wrong place at the wrong time, but rather a quiet and complex character, whose sense of justice is awakened when a young girl is brutally beaten.

This movie gives you everything you would want from an action film: guns, explosions and great effects. However, the violence and bloodshed in this movie are deserving of it's R- rating, and create this film's authentic feel. The excellent performances by the cast are also what raise this movie well above your ordinary action movie. Team Washington/Fuqua gives us a darker hero for darker times, and one you will cheer on every step of the way!!!

Youth movie Reviews

When it comes to Paolo Sorrentino I don't know what to expect. On one hand I loved his first English work "This Must Be The Place" starring a wonderful Sean Penn; on the other hand I didn't quite enjoy his Oscar Winner "The Great Beauty". I was actually afraid this one was going to be another attempt at being Fellini. But Michael Caine, Harvey Keitel, Paul Dano and Rachel Weisz gave me the push to watch it. I'm glad I didn't wait, because this is Sorrentino's greatest beauty.

Youth is a brilliant, intense, philosophical, and moving film about life and death, youth and oldness, loneliness and friendship.

As I watched the film I thought the title was deceiving. I thought it was only about being old, and I couldn't find the real meaning of it. But as I'm writing this, has passed almost a week since I saw it, and I've got enough time to think about it. Now, I do realize it is about the importance of youth, because it praises old age as that moment in life when you think about your past.

Masterfully directed and written by Paolo Sorrentino, the film is enhanced by a deep, witty, and provocative dialogue, a wonderful and breathtaking photography by Luca Bigazzi, spectacular scenography, and sublime music.

The film is the beautiful ever done Cinderella in real life. You have to hand it to Kenneth Branagh he remains so loyal to the source material of the animation movie while not letting us for once feel repetitive. Wonderful music and visualization with the nifty editing to keep the pace all works out beautifully in to a movie that will stand for generations to come.

Will there be haters that this movie is another boring cliché, yes there will be and apparently they have become critics rather than enjoying the movie for the beauty that it is. Catch this one to get the beautiful feeling of joy.

Director:

Colin Trevorrow

Storyline

22 years after the original Jurassic Park failed, the new park (also known as Jurassic World) is open for business. After years of studying genetics the scientists on the park genetically engineer a new breed of dinosaur. When everything goes horribly wrong, will our heroes make it off the island?

User Reviews

Like it's dinosaur Frankenstein creation, Jurassic World is itself a hybrid of sorts. A bright and vibrant opening that reminds the viewer of the first time they saw the original Jurassic Park, with a voice over by the late Richard Attenborough in introducing the park visitors and the audience of the wonders of the first dinosaur amusement park. Sort of a tribute to what the first movie was about and the realization of it coming true. Then the mayhem begins and the viewer will remember the words of Professor Ian Malcolm from the first sequel "The Lost World": "Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and um, screaming." That's what happens after the slow introduction of the characters and story points of "Jurassic World". What good about this film that it's a slow burn, like the first Jurassic movie, then it kicks like a mule with the scares and adrenalin of "The Lost World" when the park's new attraction starts eating the tourist and it's fellow attractions. While having both Steven Spielberg's original two films as inspiration is a good way to create a Jurassic sequel, it's not original. Don't get me wrong, its very good for what it was and Chris Pratt earns his stripes as a leading man but takes too much from both "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World" and just regurgitating scenes here and there to be taken seriously as a sequel. Plus it goes into overdrive with the scary, intelligent predator hybrid dinosaur, which comes across more like "Predator" than a Jurassic Park movie. This dinosaur hybrid kills for sport, not hunger or necessary and that pushes the boundaries of what the Jurassic Park series was about. Yes, they are wild animals but this film plays them up as good guys and bad guys then the out of its time species that did not belong into human society. With all of that out of my system, i will admit that i did have a good time watching "Jurassic World" and jumped quite a few times during a few scenes. A few inconsistencies a side, i enjoying it as what it was. While there are obvious links to "Jurassic Park" not to mention the fact that they are back to the original place of the first film, i just did not feel like it was sequel to the Jurassic Park series. More a reboot/remake of the first two movies but it could have been much worse (Jurassic Park 3 anyone?).

Action Jackson Reviews

Half way through Action Jackson..the following questions popped up in my mind

1) What on earth is Prabhudeva smoking ? To be frank, Devgn is a double role on paper is a good idea but everything is lost after that.

2) Why does Prabhudeva want to torture us with such films? Last yr..it was R Rajkumar and now Action Jackson?

3) Why does Sonakshi Sinha and Yami Gautam act is such non sense films? Frankly both are decent actress but Action Jackson is a blot on their careers.

4) What is Kunal Roy Kapoor doing in this film ?

5) And, finally...why Ajay ? Why r u acting in such crap films ? You once did some fabulous films. But now Rascals, Son of Sardaar, Himmatwala and now Action Jackson are just undoing the gr8 work u did till date.

This movie may not be injurious to your health but definitely to your mind !! Stay away.

Transformers: Age of Extinction Reviews

This is one of the worst Michael Bay movies yet.

It never stops, it taught i was going insane... just mindless action with almost no breathers.

Escapism at its worst.

Tough if you like a confused plot, bad performances, disgusting monologue, horrible mindless action, horrible comedy, really bad timing, terrible editing and getting your energy sucked out slowly and brutally during what feels like eons... Then by all means, go waste your money.

This is not a tribute to Transformers. It's a hymn to the mindless, and shallow escapism which has boomed in Hollywood the last 20 years with the coming of the digital era(Even tough there are good digital movies). Not even worth the illegal act of downloading. Glad i got this paid by a friend who insisted i joined. Last time.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Directors:

Anthony Russo, Joe Russo

Writers:

Christopher Markus (screenplay), Stephen McFeely

When Rogers acts on Fury's warning to trust no one there, he is branded as a traitor by the organization. Now a fugitive, Captain America must get to the bottom of this deadly mystery with the help of the Black Widow and his new friend, The Falcon. However, the battle will be costly for the Sentinel of Liberty, with Rogers finding enemies where he least expects them while learning that the Winter Soldier looks disturbingly familiar. User Reviews

When Fury(L. Jackson, tough as usual, for him and these) is attacked by an unknown enemy, the Captain(Evans, will of steel, heart of gold) and Black Widow(Johansson, sultry and devious – this uses her right, finally) find themselves(they have a great chemistry, with a charming running gag of her wanting to pair him up with a girl, going through a list of ones they both know; and with his straightforward nature, and her relative lack of integrity, they both affect the other towards them, benefiting both) with no one else to trust, except perhaps the veteran Falcon(Mackie, amiable), as they uncover a genuinely devastating truth, while on the run from a considerable force – including the elusive assassin, The Winter Soldier(Stan, terrifying, pure awesome pretty much every second he's on screen).

This is just short of the level of The Avengers. It uses the strong continuity of the cinematic Marvel(as in, their own studio) universe better than any of the others, and does justice to many different elements, most of them set up prior to this. Events occur in this that will have serious consequences for future entries. The plot-driven nature and approach of a 70's political thriller(where some characters, all credible and with something to do, happen to wear a flag or the like) in a contemporary setting and with biting satire(on foreign policy, something not entirely new to these, but never before this sharp… commenting on mass surveillance and executions taking place before any trial against the (supposed) perpetrator) is spot-on. From a 40's war flick, with heroism and defined lines between good and evil, to the modern method of taking on the opposition – with spying, and questionable tactics(compared to one army versus another).

RoboCop Reviews

OK, this movie probably isn't a 1 out of 10, but when you remake a movie as memorable as the original Robocop, you'd better do something interesting. They didn't.

No, I didn't watch the original first, I watched it afterwards and that is the problem. You watch Robocop 2014 and think "Meh, pretty entertaining" and then you watch the original and get taken on a roller coaster ride.

I'm not going to re-hash the original movie here, it would be a waste of effort. Just do yourself a favour and don't waste your time on Robo 2014, search out the original Robocop. You won't be disappointed. The flick isn't nearly as dated as you would expect aside from the clothes and the vehicles. The humour is dark, dirty and noir at its best. Detroit looks nasty - the way anyone who has never been to 2014 Detroit would expect it to look. The criminals are drugged out wackos - the type of criminals you expect to see in 2014. The cops are cannon fodder
  • unlike the cops of 2014, who are far more trigger happy and eager to

save their own skins. Clearly Paul Verhoeven didn't understand the magnitude of the police state that America would become - google the number of American's in prison if you doubt me.

Really simple here, folks - watch Robocop 1987, not this generic crap.

Hollywood, you would have made more money re-releasing the original.

I didn't intend to review this movie but am doing so because I think a lot of the reviews are really slanted and uncalled for.

A lot of reviews of are calling out historical fallacies and giving the movie 1 star ratings. I think this is completely unjustified. This is entertainment and must be treated as such. HIstory aside, there's more than one element of pure fantasy in this movie, so one hardly expects the historical portrayal to be completely factual.

The storyline is average, the visual effects and action sequences are without doubt state-of-the-art. I generally hate never ending, mindless action sequences but the ones in this flick were quite watchable, there were even a few brilliant moments.

The best part of the movie for me were the characters, I find the Persians far more interesting - Xerses and Artemisia (Eva Green) are both fascinating. And my biggest gripe with this film is that these fascinating personalities didn't really have much to do. Sadly, the 300 franchise thrives mostly on action sequences and plot lines stay on the back-burner, I think that's where the opportunity of making brilliant sequel was lost and the viewer was left with a decent but forgettable action flick.

It'd be remiss of me not to give the gorgeous Eva Green a standalone mention, she looks amazing throughout and more than badass to fit her part. Her presence alone was worth the price of admission.

A Paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home..

Director:

James Cameron

Writer:

James Cameron

Storyline

When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora. Written by The Massie Twins

"Avatar" is not the next "Star Wars" or "Lord of the Rings." It might be the next "Matrix," though. Or, perhaps more accurate, the next "Matrix Revolutions." It's technically groundbreaking craftmanship put to work on a story that was played out after "Return of the King." There are a lot of bad guys, a lot of good guys, and sooner or later they're all gonna meet on the battlefield. The little details are not-so-shockingly unimportant, since nothing could stop, change or even, really, comment on the unstoppable trajectory of this film's story.

It's the future. An Evil Corporation is parked on distant planet Pandora, mining the planet of all its precious minerals. The native population, big blue humanoids called the "Na'vi," aren't too happy about this. The corporation has hired scientists to create avatars of Na'vi bodies to be controlled by human brains, in order to communicate to the Na'vi that...they better move, lest be bulldozed by the evil Col. Qautrich (Stephen Lang).

Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is flown in to Pandora because his twin brother, who had an Avatar made specifically for him, is dead. The coincidence is an obvious plot device so that we can have a newcomer to Pandora to share in our amazement. Oh, and he's paralyzed, so running around in his new alien body is rather freeing for him.

I don't feel as if I need to continue with the plot description. You know what'll happen. You've seen "Dances with Wolves" and "The Last Samurai." Heck, even "Dead Man." The Na'vi represent nature, the (all-American) corporation represents destructive technology. Quatrich has a Southern accent and says things like, "we have to fight terror with terror." The Na'vi are clones of Native Americans - filtered through the imagination of a white liberal. It's all very obvious.

The question, of course, is whether or not it's entertaining. Well...sometimes. It certainly looks good. Some sequences - especially those with the winged beasts - are eye-popping. Lang makes a fun villain. Pandora is more derivative than original, it reminded me most of Skull Island in Peter Jackson's King Kong. All the monsters have a plastic-y look to them that make them feel too well-done. The 3D is distracting at times and I had a headache before the movie was over.

But there are scenes and individual shots that pop with ethereal beauty. It's worth seeing for that reason, but I don't think it'll be as fun after multiple viewings. The great thing about "Star Wars" was the characters: Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, R2-D2, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and so on. They embodied the other-worldliness of the story, taking the weight off the effects.

The Lord of the Rings Reviews

The Lord of the Rings' is one of my favorite books, I have read it several times, and remember thinking the last time, about 3 years ago that if I made a film I'd want to make it of this, but wouldn't it be almost impossible. You can then imagine how strong my expectations were when I went to see the eagerly awaited first installment.

This film impressed me hugely, more than anything else because of how true it was to my imagination, both in the characters as well as in the effects and setting- a sentiment I have heard consistently from other fans of the books. Elijah Wood brought across the character of Frodo with the kind of haunted, frail courage that Tolkien captures so well in the books. Nor could I find any fault at all with Ian McKellan's Gandalf, Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn, and Sean Bean's Boromir, all of whom I thought were portrayed excellently. I could pick out instances where I did think, 'no, that's not right', however their seldomness in number would only serve to illustrate the excellence of the overall portrayal. One thing that did stand out for me was Cate Blanchett's performance as Galadriel, the part itself became so perfunctory in the film that to me her alternation between benevolent seer, and figure of potential terror seemed little more than a slightly confusing detour with no real connection into the plot other than as a vehicle for a glimpse into the future. But that was it.
